Restore from local backup does not restore voice messages and files #15082
I have searched open and closed issues for duplicates
I am submitting a bug report for existing functionality that does not work as intended
This isn't a feature request or a discussion topic
Bug description
I transferred a local backup from my desktop app and have already started the restore process on a new phone several times. The process always got stuck at 20.4 out of 20.4 MB (99.93%). There was a “Cancel” button, but it had no effect.
When I closed and reopened the app, I was prompted to select the path to the local backup again. Eventually, the history was fully restored, but I don’t have access to voice messages and files (except for images, which can be restored).
Hi, it seems that I've lost all of what's not a text message in my history now. I'm really shocked that all of my other devices were unlinked when I set up the signal account on my new phone and when I click on relink - the history that was on that devices is completely wiped. I thought I had at least my Desktop app with the complete history including all files, media, voice messages. Now it's all gone.
I'm sorry to leave that comment here, I know it's not helpful. But the restore process is a whole mess in that app. Try better not to buy a new phone.
