Add --verbose option - #171
Conversation
Normally, the printed diff only includes the first line. Add a `--verbose` option to print the entire diff, and fix some bugs with how the diff is printed. Also add an `--agent` option to indicate whether or not the tool is being run by an agent, and add some tests to auto-detect an agent environment. For now, `--agent` only implies `--verbose`, but in the future will also specifically enable very verbose "instructions for agents" that give a lot more information that might be needed to implement a fix. Show blank lines introduced before a surviving newline.
When the source is abc\nnext and the replacement changes abc to xyz\n, the source newline after the span survives. The resulting text therefore contains a blank line before next.
In verbose mode, print_diff_lines removes the replacement's trailing empty span when suffix is empty. This omits that blank added line from the preview. Keep the empty diff line when the source newline after the span survives, and add a regression test for this case.

If the --agent output you're eventually imagining will still be English prose and code snippets that a human could understand (even if it's large, dense, etc.), then IMO a flag called --agent is unnecessary.
I recommend just putting verbosity behind a -v flag that can be specified multiple times, like
-v= "normal verbose"-vv= "very verbose"-vvv= DEBUG-level output
And then make AI_AGENT=true just imply -vvv.
But marking "approve" because I don't feel strongly, and I'm happy to defer to you on taste questions like this about the interface.
