Inmis is a backpack mod for Minecraft. This repository maintains ports for Forge (1.7.10, 1.12.2, 1.16.5, 1.18.2, 1.19.2, 1.20.1) and NeoForge (1.21.1, 26.1.2).
This is a port of the original Fabric version to Forge and NeoForge modloaders.
Choose the file for your Minecraft version and loader from CurseForge, and install the same Inmis version on the client and server. See the version guide for setup and development details. Per-version changes are recorded in the release notes.
Inmis provides players with customizable backpacks that can be:
- Opened via right-click or keybind (default: B)
- Equipped in the Chestplate armor slot
- Upgraded with configurable backpack augments
- Configured through
config/inmis.jsonfor custom gameplay

Each inmis/ directory is an independent Gradle project. Its build resolves dependencies from Maven repositories; the sibling reference sources are not included in that build. Local release/, build, runtime, and temporary files are excluded from Git.
- JDK 17 to launch the Forge 1.7.10 build, plus an installed JDK 8 toolchain to compile and run it
- JDK 8 to build and run Forge 1.12.2
- JDK 17 to launch the Forge 1.16.5 build, plus an installed JDK 8 toolchain to compile and run it
- Java Development Kit (JDK) 17 for 1.18.2-1.20.1
- Java Development Kit (JDK) 21 for 1.21.1
- Java Development Kit (JDK) 25 for 26.1.2
- Gradle (included via gradlew)
Navigate to the desired version directory and run:
cd forge-1.20.1/inmis
./gradlew buildThe compiled mod will be available in build/libs/.
On Windows PowerShell, use .\gradlew.bat build from the same directory. The Forge builds reobfuscate the mod JAR through reobfJar.
- Multiple Backpack Types: Frayed, Baby, Plated, Gilded, Bejeweled, Blazing, Withered, and Endless Backpacks
- Inventory Management: Configurable storage, with default backpack sizes from 3 to 90 slots
- Quick Access: Default keybind B to open the first backpack in inventory
- Armor Integration: Equip backpacks in the chestplate slot
- Toggleable Upgrades: Per-backpack enable/disable toggles with a dedicated upgrades panel
- Upgradeable Skills: Funnelling, Quiverlink, Farmhand, Lightweaver, Lootbound, Imbued Hide, Immortal, Reforge, Seedflow, Hopper Bridge
- Filters and Modes: Configure allow/disallow filters and behavior per upgrade
- Baubles (Forge 1.7.10 and 1.12.2): Optional equipment integration
- Curios (Forge 1.16.5 and newer, NeoForge): Equip backpacks in dedicated Curio slots
- Accessories Mod (NeoForge 1.21.1): Equip backpacks in Accessories slots
Customize gameplay through config/inmis.json:
- Disable main-inventory backpacks
- Require players to wear backpacks in armor slots
- Add custom backpacks with custom properties
- Adjust inventory sizes and features
These ports use native legacy inventories, packets, recipes and optional Baubles integration. Recipes use materials available in their Minecraft version. Quiverlink supports bows; crossbows and tridents are absent from these vanilla versions. Forge 1.7.10 omits Immortal and Reforge because vanilla Totems and Mending are unavailable.
Each Forge version includes:
- Forge event and mixin integration
- Curios mod support for enhanced trinket slots
The NeoForge versions use:
- NeoForge events and mixins for their respective Minecraft versions
- Item data components for backpack contents and augments
- Optional Curios integration on both versions; Accessories integration on 1.21.1
Each version follows the standard Minecraft mod development structure:
inmis/
|-- src/
| `-- main/
| |-- java/ # Source code
| `-- resources/ # Assets and configs
|-- assets/ # Textures and UI assets
|-- build.gradle # Build configuration
|-- gradle.properties # Gradle properties
`-- settings.gradle # Gradle settings
- Clone the repository
- Navigate to your desired version
- Run
./gradlew build - Find the built JAR in
build/libs/
- Forge/NeoForge: Modding framework
- Baubles (Forge 1.7.10 and 1.12.2): Optional equipment integration
- Curios: Optional trinket/accessory integration
- Accessories (NeoForge 1.21.1): Optional accessory integration
NeoForge includes headless JUnit regression tests. gradlew build runs these tests and checks compilation, resource processing, and JAR packaging; Forge also reobfuscates its JAR. Separate test source sets run gameplay regressions in real Minecraft GameTest servers on 1.18.2 and newer. Forge 1.16.5 uses a separate native server regression fixture because that Minecraft version predates GameTest.
The troubleshooting guide describes storage safeguards and information useful for bug reports. On Windows, run powershell.exe -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File ./scripts/validate-feedback.ps1 to build and stage all branches, or use ./scripts/verify-runtime.ps1 to run GameTests and isolated Forge 1.18.2-1.20.1 and NeoForge client/server restart checks. Select -Versions neoforge-26.1.2 -NeoProfiles none, curios -ClientProfiles none, curios for NeoForge 26.1.2. Forge 1.16.5 uses ./scripts/verify-forge16-runtime.ps1; Forge 1.7.10 and 1.12.2 use ./scripts/verify-legacy-runtime.ps1. The build validator stages artifacts and a SHA-256 manifest; runtime runners retain reports, logs and client screenshots. These outputs remain under the ignored temp/ directory. Test code is excluded from release JARs.
